Jacqueline Frances.

Painting. Photography. Performance Art.

Jacqueline Frances is a Canadian artist of many stripes. Working across painting, performance, and photography, she has long relished the act of looking—at people, at environments, and at what shapes our spirit amidst the romance and chaos of life.

Her colorful career has carried her through strip clubs and comedy stages, onto Hollywood film sets, and across deeply personal terrains—through love, loss, reinvention, and adventure. From the depths of the ocean to the expanse of the sky, Frances approaches life as both subject and medium, guided by a desire to make something beautiful from whatever is at hand. Her work is united by a sense of immediacy, curiosity, and a relentless commitment to maintaining a sense of humor no matter the odds.

Alongside her multidisciplinary practice, Frances is known for her intuitive portrait work—painting quick, expressive renderings that capture not only the likeness of her subjects, but their psychic aura (a trick she honed at clown school in Paris). Dancing at the intersection of observation and perception, she offers a fleeting yet intimate opportunity to sit and be seen by a stranger, if only for a moment.

Jacq's passion lies in living life to the fullest, doing it for the story, and sharing her wins and lessons with wit and wonder. Frances teaches what she loves: art, dance, and yoga. A lifelong student, she is currently based in Los Angeles, falling more in love with aviation and the ocean with each passing wave.

If you see her, ask her to paint your aura. Bring cash.
